This was a very interesting read. I especially liked how it was ended. (It bumped it up from a 4 to a 4.5.) The middle seemed to drag just a touch to me, though part of that may have been that I was listening to the audiobook and not reading on the page.
Also the way the author wove different time periods of his life together throughout the book was artful. This really is more poetry than a novel a lot of the time. I may have to pick up a physical copy or at least go to the mentioned website to see the photos as a feel that was a big part of the story I missed.
I think it was a very good way to contend with if not to answer that question of how to deal with one's loss of culture.
