I chose this story for this month's book club read thinking it's the perfect season for a little horror and eyebrow raising suspense. The title says it all - it is a fairy tale. It kept me intrigued and reading but there is little suspense and nothing horror about King's most recent work. It's a great story and I do recommend the read, but it's not what I expected. The long intro (chapter's worth) are King-style and this work did not stray. Well written, descriptive characters. I felt like I knew the characters. Seth Numrich is a fabulous narrator.

So far, this is one my favorites of his works. But, it is different. It isn't like his normal horror with killing animals and bringing them back to life. But I loved how it takes childhood fairy tales and brings them to life in this novel.

I give up. 2 weeks and only got to 43%. A fantasy book where the “fantasy” starts 40% into a 600 page book is so boring. By the time I got to the actual adventure I was over it
