This was particularly a spooky, creepy, psychological, smutty romantic novella??

Honestly, I’m conflicted? Because I read this purely for the smut since I’ve seen this being promoted into that smutty monster romance series so I did go for that reason.

But anyway, I was curious with all the haunted topics- things here, a little bit lost along the way as the story goes also not to mention that this is my 1st read of this series.

I’d say the chemistry of the characters is pretty okay, the smut as well. It did entertain me but if you’re looking for a monster romance and a more flawless and engaging writing, this probably wouldn’t be a good choice for you since I noticed some inconsistencies.

Overall, it was okay. It did served it’s purpose to me which is to just entertain my boredom while waiting for my next subject

It was fine; slightly out of character with the other books in the series I’ve read so far, but it was well written. I had visceral reactions to some of the parts.

This was kind of light on both the Shadow Market tie-in and the romance! It was a pretty excellent horror novella, though.

This is such a good spooky read. There’s a decent amount of slow burn until they finally fuck at the end (& the epilogue). Short and scary, didn’t expect to love but fantastic combo.

OK, so this one - I'm not a big fan.

Because it's like 80% horror novel that reminded me of Silent Hill or Night Film - although I really did appreciate how the author made the male MCs continued participation in an EXTREME haunted house installation (which turns out to be in an actual haunted castle because Shadow Market series) is entirely consensual, because if he uses the safe word, it all stops - and only 20% sexytimes (the sexytimes are good, but not at the kink/heat level of the previous three books).

And I don't like horror novels or films. They just aren't my jam. (Actually they're nightmare fuel, yikes)

So if you like something like American Horror Story, etc. You'll probably like this one.

this is why I didn’t want to read a series with multiple authors. every book in the series is some form of dark fantasy romance but this book was just about a guy going through a haunted house and the last chapter there was a monster.? this shouldn’t have been included and it put me in a reading slump.

This wasn’t fantasy, paranormal, or romance. 80% of the book was a guy walking through a haunted house that wasn’t that thrilling or exciting. Then there was a single cringy spice scene that felt very much like an awkward one night stand. Then it ended with a strange half done “paranormal” thing in the last 10% of the book. It just didn’t work. It was also released as part of the peculiar tastes kickstarter (full of wonderful paranormal spicy novellas), but this book doesn’t fit into the collection at all and the other books in this series just makes this one look even worse.
