This was surprisingly really well done. Tons of fun, and a great story that I will probably tell my children just for fun. The ending was also very touching, and gave me hope. Gives a new meaning to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!

This is the dumbest book I've read in a very long time. It's "believability" of the whole premise was so far fetched, I couldn't get on board. I shook my head me times then I can count, with the stupidity. I am not the reader demographic for this retelling.
This book is very good. It's obviously a gimmick (like many of these books), but it's well done. I know that fantasy/sci-fi authors love Lincoln, and he pops up in a lot of these kinds of books (although I haven't read any others where he's the protagonist). Nevertheless, this is well done. Mixes some historical realism (albeit with massive issues) with a good mix of "urban fantasy" about killing vampires. Definitely worth checking out or buying.

I loved this book. I'm not normally one for genre-mashing and for the most part I stay away from horror trappings, but this book was flat out fun. It was easy to read and essentially saw America's 16th President as a crusader against the undead. I wasn't too fond of the ending but Seth Grahame-Smith did a great job of presenting historical fiction. I think I was one of the few people who enjoyed both the book and the film, since the movie never took itself too seriously. I'm preferring to look at this book as being historically accurate because it would be just one more reason for me to admire Mr. Lincoln and all his achievements.
So I tried to read P&P&J this past year, but I could not get past the first few chapters (Yes, I will try reading it again). When I saw the title of this book and the cover, I was instantly in love with the concept. The first 2 chapters were not very interesting, in fact, they bored me a little. However, I plugged on, my heart trained on the idea that surely this book WOULD be better - it MUST be better. Luckily, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter DID improve and I found myself tickled by the references, skeptical of the historical references (trying to distinguish between fact and fiction), and enjoying all of Abe's vampire hacking adventures.
There was a cameo by a certain author (I won't name names and ruin it for anyone), but I thought the writer's voice did not really sound like him. If you read it, I think you'll understand why.
I would recommend this book to anyone with a sense of humor regarding all that goes bump in the night (no jokes, perverts)... especially if you are a fan of vampires. I don't know how history buffs will respond to the book, but that's why I'm going to pass the word along to the history department.
