Possibly the best book I've read this year so far. I wish Abraham Lincoln was real.

It was rather slow off the start but got better. Kind of enjoyed the movie better than the book.

I'm a fan of vampires and history, so the combination is insanely fun. It's written like a history novel, despite it obviously being fiction. However, like Graeme-Smith did in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, it sticks to the original story (or, in this case, history), but adds its own twists. It's a shame the movie was so bad, and left out the ending, which was my favorite part.

I read this book a number of times in my teens, a gift from my godmother, but I hadn’t touched it in years.
Though a work of fiction, there is a great deal inspired by our own history. The parallels between leading up to the American Civil War and our present time are uncanny. It makes me fearful for what is in store for the states.
And seeing that it’s mentioned in the end of the book, that there was a second vampire uprising in WW2, I would like to know what Seth Grahame-Smith’s thoughts are on our current political climate, and if it would inspire him to write another book set in the Vampire Hunter universe.

Was not expecting it to be that good but it blew my expectations out of the park.
loved all the details in this.
Do not watch the movie it was very poorly adapted.

I think that I would have been more interested in US History if our presidents had superpower strengths and fought demons. Grahame-Smith did an incredible job of combining historical facts with fictional accounts of evil during this time. I definitely found Lincoln more interesting when he was portrayed as a fierce vampire hunter saving the nation from the evils of slavery and the vampires in the South who fed on them.

What-if a biography about Abraham Lincoln included vampires? A well-written biography is exactly how it comes to sound and feel with the added twist of vampires existed.

The author deftly intermingles true accounts with vampire lore without breaking the biography style. It is clever and fun with many surprise reveals. While, I may not return to this particular novel, I do want to read more from this author.
