3.5 stars. This one kind of has a little too much going on in it the first half of the book and it makes it a little too chaotic for enjoyment. But the ending totally saves it and turns it around. I was vaguely remembering what was going to happen from reading it before but I still got chills.
"Then maybe you shouldn’t put a statue of it on your altar, Annabeth thought. But she was thankful for stupid male ghosts. If they’d let women warriors into their cult, they might have learned some common sense."

*AUDIOBOOK*
Honestly, I was expecting this book to hit harder than it did. I still love the characters and dynamics. But I do think that this book struggles a little with connecting the stories? I think this partly has to do with the stories it's borrowing from but it's very "and then this happened, and then this happened." Other than that I loved it, of course. I think the ending scene with Percy and Annabeth is still one of the most romantic scenes in any book, of all time. Goosebumps every time.
But can I just say that Coach Hedge is the epitome of weaponized incompetence? I could not stand him in this book. Forgot how sad Reyna's story is.
I am excited to read the next one as I remember basically two things that happened in it lol.
