After the Ending surprised me. I started this book around midnight and for some reason, I kept going until 5am. It wasn't the writing, that was okay. It wasn't the way the book alternated between two best friends, I've seen books done like this before. But, overall, I guess it just had a very intriguing world that sucked me in and kept me wanting to find out what happened next.
After the Ending is a post-apocalyptic book that happens after a Virus wipes out most of the population of North America (and possibly the rest of the world). Two friends, Dani and Zoe, somehow survive and against all odds, decide to meet in the wilds of Colorado. Each one has to trek inwards from opposite sides of the continent. Along the way, they find allies and foes, and uncover what it means to survive.
I love post-apocalptic work. This book has a unique setting and premise that keeps you wondering what next. What I didn't like was the fact that apparently the Internet still works and electricity is spotty. I know, I'm not a electrician or whatnot, but it just seemed odd to me that the Internet and pockets of electricity could go maintained without daily supervision. Then again, maybe it can?
Bottom Line: If you want a good book to keep you up during the night, then give this one a shot. A good cliff-hanger ending ensures that the next volume, due out later 2013, will keep up the pace.

Apocalypse? Sure. That seems like more of a background issue though in this book! It's mostly about horny teenagers who can't wait to rip their clothes off and go at it wherever they are. The book is written in such a staggered form, I thought I had missed important things several times and went back to re-read, only to realize that the author was just skipping around like crazy. Also, the fact that they kept Wi-Fi service through more than half of the book was just nuts. Yes, I know, let's not fret about the Crazies and the lack of normal people around, let's email my girlfriend instead to bitch about the mean girl in your group and go on and on about the total hotties. ARGH this book was annoying to get through. I just don't see how anyone can give this book more than 2 stars. It was poorly written and boring. I'm not one to give up on books, but it came close a few times.
It seems I returned to my world ending fetish but this one doesn't have any vampires, or zombies, which is refreshing. Broken into alternating stories about best friends Zoe and Dani who are separated by life and then by a world ending virus. They survived the virus but finding each other is not going to be easy. As each girl travels her own path to reach each other they find themselves with some unlikely allies and some unlikely abilities.
Since this is only book one I can say that this series is off to a very good start. While I did have some trouble in the beginning following whose story I was actually reading, Dani or Zoe's, I eventually got into the flow things. The way the world devolves reminds me a bit of the tv show Revolution but without the lights being out. With so few people surviving the world starts to crumble, tech stops functioning as well and people need to start relying more on survival skills rather than 20th century technology and convenience.
The characters were well developed, the situations didn't seem forced and it was easy to like different characters and really cheer them on or want them to be careful in certain situations. It was nice to be so invested. There are so many different story lines that were left hanging that I'm hoping book 2 will delve into but I don't want to put any spoilers out there so I'm going to keep them to myself. This was a great read and left me wanting more immediately.

I really liked the concept of this book. There were a few things that annoyed me about it - the emails seemed a little silly at times, the language was a little much, and the love scenes were more graphic than necessary.
Nice cliffhanger ending that I totally called from about halfway through, but I'm really interested to see what happens in book #2. At times it reminded me of The Walking Dead and I liked the survivalist stuff. I felt there were some plot holes that aren't very well explained, but overall I enjoyed the book.

adventurous
challenging
mysterious
I loved this series!
Ended up really enjoying the book - although there were places when it seemed to drag on waiting for something to happen and other places that seemed to lack enough detail and seemed a bit superfluous to the story...like Prophet Mandy's cult Dani's group encountered...what was that all about?
Looking forward to starting the next book in the series.

While I liked this book overall, I would get lost and switched up the girls at times. I’m going to try to read the second book in this series just because I’m wanting to know what happens to Dani and Zoe. Not my favorite Dystopian book but definitely not my least favorite either.
The book wasn't horrible. I found it to be a pretty interesting story.
There were some holes in the story especially going back and forth between Dani and Zoe. It read like you knew events or people already when they weren't introduced in the first place, and it made it somewhat confusing some times.
I probably won't be reading the other books in the series. I feel like a lot of smaller events that happened in this book could've been taken out, and the bigger events in the book could've been wrapped up and resolved without bleeding into other books.

very good book..surprised it was set to YAF..I would consider this more New adult fiction. The sex scenes were more geared more towards an adult, and most of the characters are in their late 20s/early 30s. Overall, it was a very good book and i am excited to begin book two.
