It’s a book.

Definitely not my kind of book, it felt rushed and off, the way it’s not a dark deep story of the holocaust nor a deep romance story.

The story feels swallow and makes the whole concentration camp life seem not too bad, apparently even some historical facts on the book are incorrect. 

I got the feeling that the writer put Lale on a pedestal.

It has some inconsistencies regarding the main couple’s ages, and I got uncomfortable when even in a concentration camps their main worry was to

have sex, and I also found distasteful how she had to explain to him that she couldn’t get pregnant, I mean come on, you are in a concentration camp and you cannot think your girl might be too malnourished to even have her period?

 

On top of all that, I felt let down when

after the whole love story, their son get to talk about them and he says they were really serious and distant.

I cannot say I liked reading about them being finally free, to then get in trouble because of their businesses, fly to other countries while also sending money to the establishment of the state.

idk, maybe this isn’t the best book about the holocaust, or maybe it’s just not my thing, but I wouldn’t recommend it, it was an ok read.
