This was simply a stunning book. The author told fascinating and often tragic stories with a clear, unwavering voice. Her stories of overcoming injury and difficult pregnancy and childbirth are so common and she told them with such clarity and sympathy. The sexual assault story was hard to read because of how closely she brought us into her trauma and resilience. This book is amazing; I couldn’t put it down and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Thought provoking and at times gut-wrenching. It takes a lot to do this much self-reflection, let alone write it all in a book for the world to judge. It is raw, honest, and it seems like it would be very cathartic if these stories were left untold in her heart. Feeling misunderstood is a hard feeling, and I hope she feels more understood after this

Overall a good read but certain essays aren't going to be for everyone, especially if medical trauma, infertility or an aversion to the AWE™️ of parenting are triggering in any way.

This was unputdownable. Absolutely flew through it in less than a day. The audiobook is extra good because she reads it herself. I was completely immersed in her writing and experiences. I feel a little different in the world now, after finishing it.

There were also several things in it I wasn't expecting to relate to so strongly, especially in terms of chronic illness.

Content warnings for sexual assault and pedophilia (this one isn't explicit but it's a strong theme in the book).
