I wanted to like this more than I did. Sarah Polley's life has been fascinating (and honestly, horrifying), and this series of essays reflects on her life, her learnings and where she is today. Some essays resonated better with me than others, and the variety of topics makes it so that there's something for everyone in there. Mostly my takeaway is that the kinds of people who encourage their kids to become child actors are not the kind of people you want as parents.

Thought provoking and at times gut-wrenching. It takes a lot to do this much self-reflection, let alone write it all in a book for the world to judge. It is raw, honest, and it seems like it would be very cathartic if these stories were left untold in her heart. Feeling misunderstood is a hard feeling, and I hope she feels more understood after this

Overall a good read but certain essays aren't going to be for everyone, especially if medical trauma, infertility or an aversion to the AWE™️ of parenting are triggering in any way.
