I really enjoyed this book. It deals with intense topics, so parts of it are difficult to read. But I liked this book and feel it is worth reading.

Tore through this book. Would recommend! It was so interesting to learn more about Sarah Polley’s life and it was super easy to read. I think I’m realizing that I love to learn about people’s lives, just for the sake of learning about them. Maybe I should read more memoir. But I liked how this had a theme and stuck to the essay structure. It also helps that Sarah Polley has had a very interesting life. The concussion advice is good advice that I need to follow way more in my own life (even though I don’t have post-concussion symptoms).

Sometimes things would get a little repetitive. Like, it almost felt like the essays were meant to be able to be read independently of each other if necessary. (<- that’s a bad sentence). Which makes sense honestly. But since I read this book in like one day I noticed those things more.

This book did inspire me to rewatch The Sweet Hereafter which is wild because that’s a depressing-ass movie but it did in fact hold up. Maybe I’ll read the tale of the Pied Piper now??

Minus half a star because she didn’t mention Go which is like my favorite movie ever. Maybe that’s a good thing though cause it means there were no bad / dangerous stories about Go

I think I'm a little in love with Sarah Polley, and have been for a while. I like the movies she's chosen to act in as an adult, and I like the movies she's directed. And this is a hell of a well-written book that tackles some difficult-to-talk-about topics. Don't let this one pass you by.

I found this book really compelling. I didn’t know anything about Sarah Polley before I read this. By the last essay I had lost a little sympathy for her, I have to admit, but I found her to be really endearingly, honest, empathetic, and smart.
