the characters in this book were incredibly infuriating and i wasn’t sure i’d like it as i read the first couple chapters but i just couldn’t put it down. i had to know what happened. and say what you want about the characters but they felt raw and real and this book was well written asf.

Not much plot excitement. Did enjoy diverse cast of characters. Pretty predictable

Can I just say I did not like Jo as a character. I understand self aware characters that are in therapy but I didn’t believe it based on her actions. I also did not buy the romance. I for sure think Jo doesn’t need to be with Ezra but I cannot wholeheartedly say she should be with Malcolm. I was so tired of Jo meeting up with Ezra and then running back to Mal. I understand Mal trust her but I think he should’ve moved on. Jo is attached to Ezra and his family because they became her family when she had none. Realistically I don’t think Jo and Ezra will ever be just “friends” because of their past but also their tangled feelings. All three characters need to go their separate ways. Actually Jo and Ezra can keep repeating the same cycle and I believe Jo needs to do some more self assessment because I don’t believe she’s ready to welcome anyone that’s not herself into her life.

A love triangle that isn’t really a love triangle… it’s a deeper story about mental health, childhood trauma, and what it means for first-gen women to learn how to love, be loved, and heal.

What a fun romantic read! I loved the main and supporting characters. I found myself rooting for the FMC and found her moments of weakness relatable. I found myself smiling a lot during book due to sweet moments between the lead characters and their friends. Love truly is transformative and this tells a story that there is nothing you can’t get through with the support of romantic and platonic love!

I loved this book, I quickly found myself rooting for the characters and until near the end I wasn't quite sure what way the story was going to go!

I'm really glad that  Josephine grew and developed as the story went on, setting her boundaries but changing them when she needed to and felt able to!

Malcom, is a little bit of all of us I think with his imposter syndrome but being the purest soul, I loved him from the beginning and was instantly rooting for him to take control of his wonderful novel and writing abilities.

The pacing of this book was slow in a way that suited the story, it didn't feel rushed and I appreciated reading a romance with no miscommunication within it, although there are points when you think it may be, it is resolved and dealt with in a very realistic way.

This book discusses themes of mental health, racial and women's issues but in a way that makes it feel light-hearted and true, while not glossing over these issues in the slightest.
