Another reviewer shared that this books is "for the girlies that want the nice guy to win in love triangles," and they are absolutely correct.

This book is, first and foremost, NOT really a love triangle, and I think it's misleading to say that it is. This is the case where the FMC has unrequited love for her long-term best friend who has kinda treated her like shit. She takes space from him and falls in love with someone who actually treats her well, all the while trying to get over her BFF who has realized that he's in love with her. He's barely on page, and he only really is relevant at the beginning, to create the plot, and the end, to lowkey save the day and then fuck off somewhere.

This book is going to be absolutely perfect for a lot of people, and I did really enjoy it. However, it felt very,,, tidy? and I wanted something a bit messier (minus the self-sabotage. i'll pass on that.) Mal was amazing and easily loveable, and of course Jo was fabulous. I have no objective and real complaints about this book, I just wanted more mess. But that's a me thing.

it was never between lovers and friends, babe. it was always malcolm. and ezra didn’t deserve josephine’s friendship… the amount of disrespect and fuckboism she endured for YEARS?! he should count his lucky stars that she kept him in her life. 🤨

maybe having ezra’s pov could have helped take my rating to five stars 💭
