Y’all. If you read this you’ll be ready to join a gang and have a forbidden romance story of your own.

We follow Billie who is the daughter of the family who runs the NSC gang. She wants nothing to do with that life & is trying to get out. She’s using her skills in MMA as her ticket out. The only issue, she can’t be caught doing anything illegal…

Which brings us to Caden, the son of the Kings leader. He’s as dark as it gets. He’s also the reason the trope “touch her and die” is a thing. He did some horrible things to Billie 2 years ago, so he could blackmail her if needed. Fast forward to now, Billie is the perfect fit for the job he needs done & she’ll do anything to stop the spread of blackmail he has on her.

Billie and Caden are forced to be around each other often which sets off all types of chemistry. Billie hates him but her body is obsessed with him. No matter what he does and how dark it gets, she craves him.

This book is very heavy on non-con as well as other darker kinks, so please check the triggers before reading. It starts off with a huge trigger.

This is my first time reading this author and I’m completely blown away. This was not a fairy tale. It was a dark and twisted journey in world of debauchery. It was fast paced and action packed and just when I thought I knew where it was going it took a hard left. This story is not for the faint of heart and it will push your boundaries and test your limits at every turn.

the book made me uncomfortable with the out of nowhere “oh yeah they’ve kissed like kissed before” in Billie’s monologue talking about her and Xi (her stepbrother). i can read a lot of things but i just couldn’t get past that. and there was no warning in the TW note.

What has Lola King done to me?! I thought this type of book wouldn’t be for me. I have no triggers but I definitely have my preferences. This was a “let’s try something new” type of book when I saw it highly recommended in a FB group. Whew. Am I glad I took a chance! I read the last half of the book in one sitting. This emotional, smutty roller-coaster of a story is one I want to get in line for over and over again. But I don’t know if I can start book 2 in the series yet because I don’t think I’ll be able to fall in love with the characters as much as I did with everyone in this book. I have a book hangover in the best way. You know what they say about hangovers though… the best cure is some hair of the dog that bit you. Sooo… on to Xi and Alex it is…

Lola King proves time and time again that she is the queen of dark romance. Beautiful Fiend is book 1 in the North Shore series and was an absolute knockout!

Caden and Billie's relationship was so messy and tangled but oh so hot! And the way this man was OBSESSED with her?! Oh my god!! Talk about a boy obsessed hero who grovels!!

This book was electric but so fckn twisted so be sure to check your trigger warnings!

So the story was intense.
Brutal, violent, dark and above all there were scenes that crossed my moral boundaries. This is not my first dark romance book, but I have to admit that this one made it to the top of my list. What I particularly liked was that Billie had an incredibly strong personality and didn't have the usual damsel-in-distress role. Still, there were a few parts of the book where I would have liked to see more fighting spirit from her. But I think her actions and choices made it a bit more realistic? I have to be honest and say that I don't know how I feel about Caden. I didn't like him right after the first chapter. I'm not a fan of the "I'm going to take everything without their consent" type. But as the story progressed, I realised that even though their relationship was toxic in my eyes, there was still the right balance between the two characters. So I highly recommend reading the trigger warnings first.
