- worth a re-read? No.
The insults are too good
Finley and Jedrek are dragged back to Dolion’s castle, as per the deal, and she’s housed in the same section of the dungeon as the other dragon shifters.
She discovers very quickly that it is going to be a lot harder to escape than she originally anticipated when she learns of previous - failed - escape attempts. That, coupled with the fact that she’s tortured more frequently than the others, has her losing hope of reuniting with Nyfain. Until some unlikely saviours enter the fray.
I have been dying (dramatically throws back of hand to forehead) for this book, and it did not disappoint! The action, banter, smut, insults, unlikely alliances, sassy heroine with hilarious internal monologues, brooding hero who doesn’t believe he’s good enough, and totally insane sidekicks? A perfect recipe.
For a while there I thought I was going to have to kick some ass (read: moan about it on social media) about a certain situation that looked to be unfolding…vague and ominous I know, I just don’t want to spoil it for anyone. But DM me if you want to rant together!
There is a sort of plot twist-cum-surprise factor at the end of the book (and yes that is apparently the correct spelling for the context, who knew?) that I’m unsure of how it will play out in the next book. Will this prove to be another obstacle for Finley and Nyfain? Or perhaps a boost in their favour?
Gaaahhhhh I need the final book now please!

Best one yet! I’m glad I kept reading this series. I wish the physical descriptions were a bit more robust though, especially when describing Finley’s physical state/ what’s happening to her in the dungeon and how it’s affecting her physically and emotionally. I think that would’ve helped it connect more viscerally with me. (This could be applied throughout the books, honestly. More showing, less telling.)
But overall, much better than the first couple books.

spicy and heartbreaking
I think this has been my favorite so far! I loved the bonding between all the characters. I loved the jealousy. I loved Nyfain. And the end? Crazy.

Freaking awesome!
The first two books set us up perfectly for this one. It's time to kick ass.
It's full of non stop action. If it wasn't fighting action it was super spicy action.
I seriously love the "side" characters. Hadriel and Layla totally make this series. I love Finely and Nyfain, but I loooooove the other two.
I'm so glad we get one more in this series, as it's everything I didn't know I needed.

Another great book from KF Breene! This time we are in the demon world fighting tooth and nail, literally, to escape. Meanwhile our melancholy prince sits in his castle hoping beyond hope that there will BE an escape. The hook at the end was amazing!
