5 stars is not enough to rate how GOOD this book is. This is my favorite book in the entire series so far.

The cases in this book (Lavender Lodge, Bloody Footprints, Aickmere's Department Store) are all interesting and different. This book shifts into a darker tone as it introduces the Chelsea Outbreak and the Black Winter.

+ LOCKLYLE ANGST. Lockwood annoyed me so much with how he kept pushing Lucy away. Despite that, I could feel the place of love he was coming from, and their chemistry was (strangely) so good in this book even if they weren't... on the best of terms.

ALSO, Holly. Like Lucy, I was skeptical because the three of them were already so perfect as a team. However, Lockwood's reasoning of them being overworked made sense, and I think Holly is a nice addition to the team. She kind of brings order to their chaos.
