A girl attends school for the first time in hopes of finding her BFF.

I get the message and intent behind this book, but it was just really weird and mostly boring. I feel like the author tried to do too much. The main character, Olive, suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta and really wants to attend school-great that's an inspirational story.... but then the author adds more and more to the story. There is a magical storm in her town and a magical bird that grants wishes. There are also birds, a sloth and a llama that live in the school's library? Oh there's also romance.

It was just too much going on and I never knew what was real and what was fantasy. I get this is a unique town, but it took me out of the story.

This should have been an inspirational story about finding your voice, embracing who you are, etc., but it became a silly story about finding a magical bird.

This is a good story with a positive message.
I found it difficult to read, even though I wanted to read it because I knew someone with a similar condition. Reading this made me deeply sad even though the tone is hopeful. But the parts where Olive suffers were difficult to read for me.

This book will not be a personal favorite, but I enjoyed the ending for sure.

I had high hopes for this one. But I never actually liked any of the characters. They seemed 2 dimensional from beginning to end. I think there is a lot of value for upper elementary kids to read this. It wasn't for me.
