I wanted really desperately to like this book, but I didn’t, and I felt bad about that, so kept trudging through until I made a realisation. My time is actually important, and I'd much rather use it reading a book I did enjoy.
Sara Pascoe is a wonderful comedian and because a lot of her personality is present in this book, I felt like I was required to like this if I liked her, and that I had to finish reading this even though I didn’t enjoy it. Which is simply not true. For any book, I mean. Not just Sara’s.
Excuse me while I do a victory dance for my own character development.

I picked this book up at the library because it asked on the back “Why do some men feel depressed after masturbating?” I am so happy I did, this book was so funny and so informative all at once. While the overarching theme of this book is sex you go into the biology and chemistry (very simply of course we’re also trying to enjoy ourselves here 🤣) behind the possible history of sex.
Then later we go into a section about power. This section how the power can be associated with sex. This can be about how sex in itself is a power exchange onto to how industries have capitalized on the attractiveness and sex appeal of women for their own financial gain.
Leading us into our final chapter about money. This chapter discusses, very hilariously I might add and the only this I’ll allow a scientific reverence to a Sex in the City, how some women capitalize of their own sexuality and use it to their advantage. It also takes a more serious turn with this and talks about how it’s not only these women who do willingly do and enjoy sex work who you see every day. It does go into sex trafficking and how people are kidnapped and used for sex, for the financial gain of the kidnapper. I really admired this as it is important to educate the public on an entire truth about a subject and that includes the ugly ones that require spreading awareness about.
I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it to anyone who wanted to learn more about sex and is a super cool feminist with a little bit of a dark sense of humour! Also if the author ends up seeing this from a woman who doesn’t shave I appreciate the representation you gave me in this book, it made me feel incredibly empowered and to be described as “…better at equality than the rest of us.” is an honour.

I can not recommend listening to this as an audiobook enough. I don't even know how to rate it but I loved listening to Sara's analysis of... well Sex Power and Money.

Interesting - Sara Pascoe is very clever. Lots to think about in this one.
