Joel Rosenberg got me hooked with his Collins series, so I was excited to find that he was venturing out with a new character and a new setting.

This time Marcus Ryker, former Marine, turned Secret Service agent is not only challenged with protecting the POTUS, but now working to stop the Russian President from potentially starting a Nuclear War.

Rosenberg has once again proven why he is one of the best and brightest in the business in the thriller genre, ripping straight from headlines.

Fun read. Twists and turns... then a cliffhanger.

Checked goodreads... Apparently I already read "The Persian Gamble", book 2 in the Ryker series back in 02/20... Now I'll have to go back and re-read it to see how Ryker gets out of this quagmire.

My never ending list of books gets LARGER.

I will be honest and tell you, this is not my normal type of book to read. I prefer romantic suspense or romantic thriller, not political thrillers. I am just not a big political person. That said, I have to say, Mr. Rosenberg is extremely, extremely talented, and really knew what to put into a phenomenally written novel. This book truly surprised me at how well it captivated me.

The great detail and research that Mr. Rosenberg has put into this novel is incredible. It really helped draw me to the intensity of the story. I was drawn to Marcus Ryker, the Kremlin and all of the edge of your seat, nail biting plot twists that he hadded to the story. I found myself often holding my breath, holding my book with a white knuckled grip. That, to me, is what makes an amazing thriller!

This is definitely a 5 star worthy novel to the greatest proportions. Mr. Rosenberg absolutely blew me away with this novel and I am already looking forward to another thrilling, God filled, gripping novel from this fantabulously talented author. You heard it here folks. A non-political person, loving this absolutely gripping political Christian thriller. Hats off to Mr. Rosenberg!

Awesome book but that ending threw me of completely and I'm downright pissed about it. No indication if good guys got out or not etc. It really feels like the book isn't finished. If this is how all his books end I'm not reading any of it?

This was so thrilling and jaw dropping šŸ˜

Tyndale House Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions are my own.

I was eager to read this book, as I had previously read his book, The Auschwitz Escape and found it to be an intriguing read. Rosenberg writes the types of books I can get lost in, page turner suspense thrillers that span the globe.

I found the main characters on both sides of the world to be likeable, and ones you wanted to root for. However, there were a few times chapters would end with a sentence such as ā€œ(Name) would not live to see it.ā€ I felt this was disjolting to me as a reader, as it took the surprise of what was to come away, and gave it more of a narrator stance, rather than the character dialogue that I had just been absorbed in.

Despite that, I couldn’t stop reading as I had to know how the plots would unfold, and I was not disappointed, and am hoping there is a sequel to come.

I've been excited about reading this book for months and am not disappointed. My mind was engaged from beginning to end in all aspects of the story. I like the way the lives of the two main characters paralleled. The plot involves current political conditions which gives the story an added level of excitement and a sense of urgency. I didn't see the ending coming, and it was fantastic.

As is always the case with Mr. Rosenberg's books, I'm sad when they end because I know it will be about a year before I can read the next book.

I am a fan of Joel Rosenberg but this one was disappointing for me. I can’t put my finger on as to why. Maybe was expecting something different. Or I have read something similar that was better. It just didn’t meet my expectations like his other books. However you can always count on Mr Rosenberg to be historically accurate that was the best part of the book.

It held my attention and was even gripping in parts. The first 300 pages could have been condensed quite a bit, as not all of that backstory was relevant to the mission to avert a war.

I had never heard of this author before so I had no expectations. Honestly, I was bored through most of it but since I love a spy/adventure novel I continued. This isn't even close to a Tom Clancy Russian/Soviet political thriller. As others have pointed out the main character is an evangelical Christian. This does not bother me at all and it is nice to see other religious perspectives in novels. The novel ends on a cliff hanger and I absolutely despise novels that do this. I will not be picking up the continuation.
