Let me just start by saying this book most definitely lives up to the hype and I absolutely devoured it. First person, dual POV, grumpy - sunshine, marriage of convenience, small town, found family, AND he’s loved her since they were teens?! What else could you possibly need?! Oh yeah, no third act break up.
This is my first read by Kate Canterbary and it will not be my last. I loved how she wrote both Shay and Noah, they both had insecurities, were vulnerable, but also had the hard discussions so miscommunication didn’t interfere with their relationship, at least not in a way that would make me want to throw the book. Shay and Noah had such good character development and I personally found them incredibly easy to relate to. And let’s not forget the star of the show, Genne, the pirate loving, walking reminder for a swear jar, 6 year old was the best.
Honestly, I can’t say enough good things. I smiled and got giddy at the sweet parts, enjoyed the spice after an appropriate amount of slow burn, and laughed at the witty banter between all characters. There were just so many amazing things happening here and I can truthfully admit that it’s hands down one of my top 5 favorite romances this year
