I loved the concept. Seeing some of the photos was a great way to add suspense and make the story feel creepy. Really easy to read. Kind of a simple story but the ending had quite a bit of depth.

Really confused on why this is a horror book. I did enjoy the book. But honestly if it wasn’t for the creepy pictures I probably would have not enjoyed it as much.

I know I'm making the book a 4.75 but it's cuz I can't decide if it's that or a 5 star. I'll probably come change it if I decide it is a 5 star. Anyway...

I was not anticipating the twist being the full scope of what it emded up being. Most of the book I was just thinking it was just another spooky ghost story but it involves a kid making creepy drawings.

Read this for a book club, and I was surprised how much it sucked me in! Really couldn't put it down and finished it in a couple days. I'm forever a sucker for a good ol' "the ghost isn't evil, PLEASE help them!!" I loved Mallory and Teddy, Adrian was a cutie pie, and the whole story of Mallory's recovery was really beautiful. The mystery was pretty great in my opinion. I haven't read nearly enough mysteries in my life, but the few I have read can sometimes fall flat by the end, but I find I really enjoyed it all the way through.

A lot of people either dislike the book or are on the fence about it cause the twist feels very Republican buuuut honestly? After obsessively yapping about it to my brother and reading very hard between the lines, I don't actually think the book was written with any ill intent towards atheists or trans people or any other group. I won't drop the whole thesis on why I think this, but yk, it definitely left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth until I processed it.
