I have been putting odd this book for the longest time and when I finally decided to read it, I couldn't put it down.
The mystery behind the pictures as the story unfolds... I couldn't stop reading!

What I really enjoyed about Hidden Pictures is how it blends a slow-building tension with moments of genuine horror. The atmosphere is eerie, and Rekulak does a fantastic job of making you feel the growing dread that Mallory experiences. As the mystery unfolds, the book kept me on edge, and I found myself constantly trying to piece everything together before the characters did.

The writing is super engaging, with a strong focus on character development. Mallory’s struggle with her own past and her relationship with Teddy felt real, and I could easily relate to her anxiety and fear. Teddy, despite being a child, was incredibly unsettling, and the drawings made the story all the more chilling. The way Rekulak weaves the psychological horror with the mystery element was impressive—there were times when I wasn’t sure if I should be more afraid of what was happening in the real world or in Mallory’s head.

The pacing was great too. There were a few twists I didn’t see coming, and even though I had an idea of where the story might go, the ending was definitely not what I expected. It was creepy, thought-provoking, and left me with that lingering sense of unease even after I finished the book.

If you love thrillers with a supernatural edge and characters that feel real, Hidden Pictures is a must-read. It’s not just a typical horror story—it’s a deeply unsettling exploration of perception, guilt, and what happens when the lines between the real and the imagined start to blur.

3.5

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. This was a fantastic read. There were a few things that made me uncomfortable so I skipped them but it didn't affect the flow of the book. It was one of the best books of 2022 by far! I NEVER saw the ending coming. Highly recommend.

I flew through this one—it’s a quick, engaging read with good storytelling. I’d recommend the physical or ebook version since the pictures and their placement really add to the experience. Not every twist worked for me, but overall it was an enjoyable horror/thriller.
