I enjoyed this graphic novel but I felt like I spent too much time trying to figure out what was going on. It’s very sparse and expects you to pick up on a lot of hints. At the end there is a bit of an “explainer” conversation but I still find myself with a lot of questions, in a negative way. Still the art is really interesting and I was intrigued by the various mysteries. If you enjoyed the Netflix show based on this, you’ll want to leave that story behind because the story in the graphic novel is quite different (although I think the overarching message is the same in both).

Multiple murders in multiple time periods, Ripper references, and secret societies give this introductory issue a little bit of everything. Bang-up illustrations and an intriguing story will definitely keep me reading.
