I enjoyed Factfulness and the Roslings clearly enjoyed writing it. This is a serious but sweet reckoning with why we still think the world hasn't changed much in the past 50 (or 100, or 200) years and simple ways that we can all approach claims more factfully. This is less a, "Stop complaining, the world is better than ever!" book and much more of a, "Why do you still think X is that way?" approach to looking at the world. The Roslings promote a pragmatic, data-driven lens for how we, collectively, may wish to view the world today.

"It is quite relaxing being humble, because it means you can stop feeling pressured to have a view about everything, and stop feeling you must really defend your views all the time."

This was a beautifully written, well backed up spotlight on our skewed worldview, and what makes it so. It showed the facts, with details, statistics and sources. It gave some simple rules of thumb to keep yourself from carried away when you don't need it, and bolster you up when you do.

Despite being about facts it was wonderfully interesting and personally written, with humour and interest. I highly recommend it for everyone and everywhere.

I really liked this, packing my brain with not only facts but general understanding of numbers and how humans use them to convey information.

LOVE this book! Particularly the deft balance between being data-informed AND compassionate. That’s the ticket!!!

Particularly in an age where elected officials have no compunction about lying, and given all of the terrible news across the world, it was great to read a book that could effectively state “things are better than ever, but we still have bad things we need to address”. Examining populations by degree of development and comparing countries to each other at common levels of development leads me to be a lot more hopeful for our planet.
