It dragged on in the middle, but gravely made up for itself at the end. Honestly, it was drag through most of it. The final battle and "wrapping up" of the major plot points felt a bit pointless when I knew as a reader it was all leading up to the final explanation as to why Thrawn was being exiled. All of it felt like fluff and fodder.

As for his exile... I found it beautiful to have the trial scene through an observer's eyes, especially one who assumed that Thrawn would be let free with nothing more than a slap on the wrist. To watch a crowd of his friends and allies have the Ascendency's saviour used as a political scapegoat for everyone else to save face was brilliant. The later conversation between Thrawn, Ba'kif and Ar'alani was very interesting, knowing what happens to Thrawn during his Imperial tenure.

My new favorite thrawn book!!

Decent conclusion to Thrawn's story for where the other trilogy starts.
