This was my first book in the Van Doren series, and it didnโt disappoint. Noaz and Briar are an unusual but perfect pair. Noaz, who I believe is non-binary, and Briar, a lifelong straight man, share a heartfelt connection. When Noaz receives their long-awaited phone call, they immediately commit to starting a new life together.
The romance between them felt genuine and tender. Briarโs acceptance of Noaz, beyond gender, was incredibly touching, and their shared dream of building a family added warmth to the story. Their bond grew stronger as they supported each other through every challenge.
The pacing was unique, starting slow with emotional depth before ramping up into thrilling action and even a bit of murder in the final quarter. The darker twists were unexpected but kept me hooked until the end.
Reitanโs portrayal of Noaz as a non-binary character was exceptional, offering representation that felt authentic and meaningful. Combined with the supportive and close-knit Van Doren family, this book had a perfect mix of emotional and dramatic moments.
With heartfelt romance, exciting twists, and compelling world-building, Noaz is an unforgettable start to the series. I canโt wait to dive into Loren and explore more of the Van Doren universe!

This book is very different from book one in the series. That being said it was incredibly well written and incredibly intimate. This book focuses WAY more on the romance than the vigilante side of the family. I did love that the family and Oakley's friends all moved together as a tie in to the last book. And I was surprised by but loved this story despite how different it was from the last.
I love this series and this family. They are morally gray, but they love their family and found family with everything they have and will do anything to protect them. Noaz and Blairโs love story is the sweetest. How they know almost immediately that they are it for each other. Itโs just lovely. Slow burn and low spice, but the sweetness and romance is so great. Loved it!!!
