I really enjoyed Here and Now and Then and was eager to read this one. I didn’t hate it, but it didn’t quite land with me in the same way. Still, it held my interest and I actually appreciated the way the author didn’t go full romance novel on us. The slow build of interest between the main characters felt authentic, which I appreciated, but for some reason I can’t put my finger on I never felt truly connected to or invested in them. The science didn’t grab me and I found myself zoning out at times. And I haven’t yet decided whether I appreciate or am annoyed by the ending..maybe a bit of both!
The ending killed the momentum a bit and I don't like the implication about Beckett at the very end.
This is the third of Mike Chen's books that I've read and enjoyed very much. What did I like about it?
