I liked everything about this except the romance... which is kind of a large part of it... If it had been the exact same plot, but best friends, it could have been the most amazing meditation on the value of friendship... but instead I struggled to find the actual common ground that make the couple work.

I love the Groundhog Day style of this story due to the characters being stuck in a time loop, but by the end, I was struggling to keep up! Maybe it was the audio format but I couldn’t figure out what was happening by the end.

I enjoyed both the premise and the execution. We got to know Marianna better than Carter, considering how much time we spent with them in their time loops, we might have gone a bit deeper. On the other hand, there was really no need to find out why the friction between Carter and his family since they were always outside the bubble of the loop.
I might have to re-listen to the end and it all got tied up relatively fast. What happened to Shay?

Mike Chen is a fun author. Nerdy and not stuck on one specific genre. Four of the five books of his that I've read, I've rated 4 stars. A Quantum Love Story is another good read, this time tackling time loops. It's a fun read and does a good job of not being predictable. I'd say the "love story" aspect isn't that convincing as they seem like they would be better off being good friends. Also the solution to the time loops feels like swinging in an entirely different direction from the rest of the book and is very abrupt. The ending, in turn, does not feel as satisfying as I'd hoped, but again, still a fun read.

Not all that focused on the love story which was a nice change. Got a little pop version of 11/22/63 going for it - fun
Entertaining, but a bit disappointing. The romance was pretty weak and I wasn't satisfied with the ending.
The ending felt so empty too because it ALMOST grappled with deep topics and then decided not to. Like when Mariana realized that she was isolating for 20 years BECAUSE of Carter and his choice to include her in the time loop... she mentioned "this is Carter's fault!!" and then just moved on. Yet you still "love" him? After ONE kiss? Girlfriend, get a grip.
