I just know they fought over some other stupid miscommunication as soon as this book ended

  • second chance
  • sports romance
  • childhood friends
  • workplace drama

Communication is key….

I was so lucky to meet Julia at Wild & Windy this spring.  When I asked her where to start she was cautious in telling me because this book is all about miscommunication, and she knows that’s not for everyone.  I will tell you I just wanted to shake Jackson while I read this one.

A bit self centered, Jackson never took the time to see Nate’s side of things, and just assumed the worst when he unexpectedly had to leave her side.  After five years he’s back, and he has a plan to win her over and be together again.  Let’s just see if they can get out of each other’s way, share their deepest secrets and love each other completely. That is what kept me reading, I just had to see.

Julia has a way of writing a story that keeps you connected, even if you don’t love the characters you are going to still care enough to see where she’s going to take them.  This is my first book of hers and I am intrigued, I definitely see more of Julia’s books in my future.

I was hoping to like this more but it just fell flat. I've enjoyed Julia Connors more recent books in her hockey series, so I went back to this older series, but I can definitely tell this is earlier work of hers.

The miscommunication trope is this book was the second most painful one I've ever read. I didn't like Jackson at all and felt like Nate deserved so much better.

I think this is the lowest-rated one of the series so I'm going to continue on and hope for the best.

Jackson and Nate were high school sweethearts, together for years, until she wrecked in a ski race and Nate wasn't there - and didn't come back. Five years later, they are thrust together when Nate returns to the National Ski Team and Jackson is his physical therapist. They have to figure out if they can work together and put the past behind them.

This was a good book. I did NOT like Jackson though and I just couldn't get past her ridiculousness. It was such a real book with so much miscommunication (granted one of my least favorite tropes so that didn't help) that I almost didn't want them to end up together. Jackson's relationships with her friends was something special, but I hated that she barely listened to any of them. It was baffling to me how after everything, when they got back to Big Sky, she still refused to trust him and expected him to make all the sacrifice and moves and not her. She made no effort to be apart of Nate's life and future except in words. The chemistry between them was off the charts, but it didn't seem like Jackson really grew up and learned from anything as she got older. The ending was cute and only slightly satisfying.

Relationship twist elevated what appeared to be a fairly standard sports romance.

Too much miscommunication drove the plot where it became frustrating and annoying. The FMC just couldn't get out of her own way and the grand gesture was predictable and cliche. Sadly, this was a story where the MMC outshines the FMC by leaps and bounds and his character carried the plot.
