A graphic novel worth reading for those who are not put off by bdsm dynamics.

I happily Kickstarted two previous editions of Smut Peddler, and was happy to Kickstart this graphic novel as well. The story concerns a young male cartoonist (Wylie) who requests to meet one of his idols, Joe. This meeting leads to Wylie learning who the real artist is (Roya!), and becoming involved in their submissive/dominant relationship. The drawings are good, the sex is hot, and the back story complements things, rather than feeling tacked on or detracting from the erotica. I look forward to next year's Kickstarter!

Graphic: Sexual content
This is an erotic graphic novel, so be aware there are (fmm) sexy-funtime scenes. Which are hot and wonderful.
Emilee Denich's art is beautiful, and that's coming from someone who is quite picky about art. Everything feels lovingly rendered, and her expressions are delightful to behold.
C. Spike Trotman's writing is everything I want to do as a writer: each character has a distinct voice and believable behavior; the themes are organically woven in, rather than beaten into the reader's head; this is a(n erotic) graphic novel with Something To Say rather than light fluff. There's nothing wrong with fluff! But the fact that YES, ROYA is about sex and also so much else is downright inspiring.
This is a graphic novel that comments on art, on those who make it and those who make it public, on choices and actions and fear and consequences, on human behavior. That's a lot to pack in around foreplay and orgasms.
My hat is off to both Ms. Trotman and Ms. Denich for a job excellently done!
