I just finished reading this. I love reading books by Patricia Briggs. This one has damaged people working with magic to seek revenge and protect those they love. It revisits the story of Aralorn and her Wolf. It can be read as a stand alone or after reading Masques. I am glad that Patricia filled in more of the background for Aralorn and addressed what happened after Aralorn and Wolf fought the ae'Magi.

A bit awkward at first and the story isn't totally original, but once it gets going it's a smooth and enjoyable ride. While it's definitely a fantasy novel, there's a strong romantic element--actually, it does a better job with Aralorn and Wolf's relationship than many of the romance novels I've read recently. And for those who are as squeamish as I am, there are references to previous episodes of torture and sexual assault but minimal on-screen ickiness. It could be read as a stand-alone, but will definitely make more sense if you've read Masques first.

First time reading this one and OMG be still my heart !

That book was so good ! the relation between Aralorn and Wolf has grown quite a bit ( If you read it you’ll know, there’s one scene where I squealed SO HARD ! )
This time we're getting to know more about Aralorn past, since her father has died and she go back to her house for the first time in 10 years.
I loved the new characters we were meeting and how the plot was solved at the end, but I think it was a bit rushed. Something I was waiting for did not happened, and at the beginning what I understood of what was happening did not suit me, that trope was just too much for me.

So for those faults I wanted to give it 4 stars … but the relation bring it up to a 4.5/5 stars

Definitely an improvement upon "Masques", but still lacking in alot of areas. I'm glad that I looked these books up and found out that they were pretty early on in Briggs career, so I can forgive her for some of the less pleasing aspects of the book. But it doesn't change the fact that "Wolfsbane" as well as "Masques" did not live up to the standards I have set for Briggs.

Sequel to Masques (Sianim, #1). Apparently Sianim #2 and #3 are stand-along books and deal with different characters.
