Interesting look at poverty, restaurants, etc. in 1930s Paris and London.
What brought down my rating was the ending. The last 10-20 pages were almost an essay of the author's thoughts and solutions of British vagabonds and two pages at the end that abruptly wrap up the story.

George Orwell beschrijft hier z'n leven als armoedzaaier, eerst in Parijs en heel verbazingwekkend, daarna in London. Hij beschrijft de vreselijke banen in Parijs, het leven als zwerver en wisselt dat af met af en toe een beetje politieke mening. Mooi hoe hij in een paragraafje een persoon zo rijk kan beschrijven, en hoe menselijk hij het hier allemaal maakt. Ook een interessant historisch inkijkje. Er gebeurt niet heel veel, het is een soort reisverslag, en het boek had niet veel langer moeten zijn, dan had het sterren gekost.
