It took me a while to get through this one. While I LOVED the first two books, I only really liked this one. I loved the little nod to the Nursery Crime series characters and it's first book, The Big Over Easy (which was the first Fforde book I ever read). Visiting the BookWorld is exciting and Thursday Next is a fun character.

!5 stars for the series!

"After all, reading is arguably a far more creative and imaginative process that writing; when the reader creates emotion in their head, or colors of the sky during the setting sun, or the smell of a warm summer's breeze on their face, they should reserved as much praise for themselves as they do for the writer- perhaps more."

Very repetitive from the previous books, so I didn't make it very far before I lost interest and switched to a different book. Not really compelled to go back to it.

Enjoy the Thursday Next series, with the mixture of literary references and sci fi/fantasy plots. Nice light read, but not too light: a little brain work involved to follow the plots and characters as they move from Bookworld to Outland and back again. In this one the evil foil is playing with Thursday's memories, deleting and altering them ... which adds a trickiness to solving the plot and her problems. As if pregnancy weren't enough of a mind-destroyer ....

I do so enjoy this series. Each novel gets a little more fantastical but I find that I get so involved in the story that I could quite easily begin to believe that it's all real!

In this novel we were also introduced to Fford's Nursery Crime series which I think I'll have to invest in after I'm done with the Thursday Next books.

Overall, a very solid 4.5 stars from me.

I would describe the plotting as "meandering" but I do find the book jumping world fun so still enjoyed myself!
