Wow. Whoever thought the vampire genre wasn't toast?

The reason this vampire book succeeds is because Thirst, although it may appear otherwise based on the cover and blurb and such, isn't primarily a vampire novel. It's a thriller that happens to involve vampires. Too many books cashing in on the vampire craze feature vampires and no actual good qualities; they're written terribly, or aren't characterized, or have no plot. The Thirst series does not fall into this category; it's fast-paced, intriguing, and even a bit historical this time around.

How fun. This book reminded me of my earlier reading ventures, based on how it pulled me in and kept me there. 4 stars to Pike. The ending was a bit brutal, but we've been promised one final Thirst book, so I'll hang tight until then.

WHAT WHAT WHAT was that ending? Cliff hanger for a book that's suppose to be the final volume of Sita's life? Darn you Pike for being so amazing and addicting. If their is more to Sitas story after this novel I will be buying those books.

I said it in my update that its been a while since I had read the first four books in this series, so I was hesitant in picking up the fifth book, because I felt like since it had been so long I wasn't going to be into it. But boy was I wrong. The first chapter reeled me back in to Sita's story and everything that happened in the previous novels came back to my mind and I was just enjoying the story. I can honestly say that their wasn't one moment while reading this story when I became bored or impatient to finish just to finish. I enjoyed every moment and gosh Pike is so great at building up the action and his characters, even the ones that are unimportant, we get to know them so well!

So glad I finally decided to pick up this book this month and get back into this series. Pike is just great....just go and read this book.

I loved Christopher Pike when I was in high school. I still feel the need to read his books sometimes today. So, admittedly, I'm not the target demographic for these books anymore. But, this one just wasn't as enjoyable as the other books in this series even were. It just wasn't fun anymore for me.

This was a disappointment.

I have thought about that ending line for the past 10 years, ever since I read it for the first time back in 2013. Finished my reread of the series (I am emotionally wrecked right now!!!) There were so many things I didn't realize during the first read. There are so many themes and key ideas, like religion. It's NOT a book about religion; it's a book [series] that just happens to have religious characters in it if that makes sense. Every month, every year I cross my fingers and hope that Mr. Pike has an official update about the next Thirst books.
