this was so good!! esme&khai hold my entire heart istg. i put this off for so long because i tried to read my physical copy a few months ago and couldn't get past the prologue bc i was afraid the book would have me SOBBING - i am pleased to announce that it did not have me crying my eyes out, but there were definitely moments of tearing up. this was so wholesome, funny, and swoony. i wanted to just hug both esme and khai for their pasts, but i loved that they ended up together, because to me, they fit with each other perfectly. i do think the ending was a little rushed/didn't tie everything up for me, but overall, it was fantastic and i definitely recommend this series!!

⚠️: grief, ableism, death of family member, car accident, classism, abandonment

This is my favorite book of the three in the series. It has fun main characters and an interesting dynamic between them.

What a delightful read. This book was filled with so much love and hope and I truly could not put it down. The characters are all so lovable, even the side characters. Heart wrenching in places, eye opening in others. Just wonderful!

A fun, forced proximity romance with great spectrum rep! Really enjoyed the narration from Emily Woo Zeller as well.

Despairing of her son ever getting married, Khai’s mother helps being Esme to the United States as a potential bride.

This was definitely a unique plot line, and I liked the leads, Khai and Esme. I liked how they both helped each other grow and become more comfortable in themselves. I also loved reading about an immigrant heroine in a contemporary romance novel as this isn’t something I’ve come across often before.

However, I wish their relationship was developed more on screen - while they suited each other, I was not sure why they loved each other. I also wished that Esme’s daughter Jade played more of a part in the story as she is mostly shown as part of Esme’s motivation than as a character in her own right.
