I saw this book and had to read it. After all Neil Gaiman!

And I really truly enjoyed the book, it might not be the best book to be read on Christmas, with its gloomy and dark interior and story, but I am happy I read it.

The illustrations are wonderful and beautiful, it was really fun to see all the little details in the story. Also the A,B,Cs of Neil Gaiman is truly magnificent. I had a few laughs at a few and a few shivers at others.

So thank Neil Gaiman for making this book. :) And I would recommend this to everyone.

Ohhhhhh, this is so deliciously creepy.

I went on a lark and got all the Neil Gaiman children's books from my library. As luck would have it, a day or so later I went to visit my godkids, and brought these in to read them. Based on cover, title, and...well, the knowledge that it was Neil Gaiman, I expected it to be slightly creepy, and my godson is especially sensitive to scary things, so I mostly read it to my fearless goddaughter.

Who really wasn't paying much attention anyway, and instead pointed at things like ducks (right next to a dead dog that she missed) and a hat (which was not so much a hat as a giant gaping skull). Also, "An elephant!" which was actually a vulture.

Ahem. Needless to say, I don't know that I would classify this as a children's book? But I also remember my now 14-year old niece adoring anything scary growing up, and watching Lord of the Rings when she was 2, and pausing it on the scene where Gandalf is fighting the giant fire bull so she could go to the bathroom and not miss anything.

That kid would've eaten this book up.

I read it to them once, then read it to the best friend (who, upon seeing some of it, sing song'ed "N-I-G-H-T-M-A-R-E-S...."). Then she read it to them against the next day because they begged to be read "Nanny's books". The illustrations are such that you can look at each page over and over and always find something new.

This is Neil Gaiman through and through, and I loved every page of it.

Jeremiah was very attentive when I told him the title of this book.

After completion, he said, "I've had nightmares about this."

I think that's a success.

Fantastic book! It's a fun way to teach the alphabet. The pictures were awesome and kept my son excited. He couldn't wait to see what was on the next page. Sure, some people will probably say it's very 'dark', but we loved it!

Bit dark for little kids but good gruesome fun for older ones. Would have been 5-stars if they hadn't damsel'd the girl!

Neil is one of my fave authors. The illustrations are wonderful. Cute book for kids (up to age 7, I would say) to read.

This alphabet book is not for young children, but the illustrations are amazing. Besides the backwards w and v, the behind the story is alright.
