Smith’s poetry is funny and wry but also gets straight to the feelings. I love the way they use slang and more causal language and make it so beautiful. They use space and text in such creative and effective ways as well.

This collection was one of love but also of grief and anger. Again, like almost anything Danez does, I loved it.

How does one arrange letters and words in a way that elicits such strong emotion? Incredibly powerful, moving and thought provoking. This collection of poems explore black and queer joy, grief, relationships, struggle and community.
