This book is quite beautiful. I cried. I even feel Lia's pain with the great burden of being the angel. Its very sad to love someone and be so close and then they change. Alice and Lia twins, friends for life in most twin cases and now two different halves no longer a whole. I can't wait to read the next book in the trilogy to see if they ever can be friends again.

I felt like this book didn't really get very far for how long it was.

This was a good book.

I struggled in the beginning to enjoy it and to proceed but as it was recommended I forced myself to read it.

The jewel that I found was a pleasant surprise and it had me in tears for a chapter.

It is about two sisters who fate has chosen to be part of a prophecy as old as the bible itself.

The one sister, the gate, the only one in the world who has the power to open the gate for Sameul or destroy it forever.

The guardian the only one that can protect the world from the gates evils.

In a hunt to solve the prophesy there is loads of twists for Lia and her twin sister Alice do you dare to read this book ?

Lia and Alice Milthorpe are twin sisters who have just lost their father in a suspicious death. A strange mark then suddenly appears on Lia’s hand and a mysterious book is found in her father’s library. So begins Lia’s investigation into the prophecy that has plagued their family. The girls were always protected from the secret of the prophecy by their parents. Now that they are orphans, the prophecy secret is out.

This was the perfect kind of book for me to kick off Fall reading. Prophecy of the Sisters is spooky, dark and mysterious. The setting in gorgeous Victorian New York is a perfect backdrop to the story. The writing is descriptive and lovely and pulled me in to the story with a good mix of mystery and supernatural aspects.

Lia is an intelligent, strong and brave protagonist. In addition to grieving for her father, she also has to manage the tense and increasingly frightening relationship with her sister Alice. Lia and Alice also have a 10 year old brother Henry who becomes involved with the secrecy of the prophecy. James is Lia’s love interest, however there is not a lot of romance in the book.

Although I enjoyed this book, my one complaint is the very slow pace. The story is engrossing, but it takes awhile to get to the action. Overall the mood and tone of the story won me over. I hope to learn more about the other characters in the sequel, especially about the “evil” sister Alice.

This book is a great set up for the series, and leaves a lot of interesting questions for book two. I’m glad I can read the first two books back to back, otherwise I could not stand the suspense! Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink is about twin sisters with an ancient prophecy thrust upon them that the good sister doesn't learn until her father dies and things start happening. The good sister is supposed to be a gate that can let the devil in to rule over this earth or lock him out forever. She has been raised in ignorance of her role through the fears and incompetencies of the adults (mother, father and aunt)in her life who were all fully aware of the importance of the role she would someday play leaving her at the mercy of those who would work against her. One of her biggest enemies seems to be her own twin sister who has been educated since birth by the evil entities wanting to let the devil reign. My hardest part to accept in this unlikely tale is that even after the evilly educated twin kills their younger disabled brother, the good twin still loves her and lets the murdering twin go on with no repercussions. No way, she even leaves her home with the bad sister taking over the household and the supposedly good aunt as guardian whom the bad twin has already asserted her superiority over in the household. No way again. I think I will pass on the rest of this series.

It was alright. I honestly had higher expectations for this book just based on the small blurb on the back of the book. I was let down and didn't really feel like finishing it. The concept was good and the writing itself was fine, I just felt like it went nowhere and the story didn't progress much, or not as much as i expected. I still will most likely read the rest in the series but I'm not rushing to it.

Honestly, I don't know what to say about this review. I'm not that a fan of Mystery type of books where in I was always need to pay attention to the book I'm reading. And I had a hard time grasping the story of this book. But, as you could see I gave it a rating of 3.5.

Yes, I'm not a fan of mystery but somehow I kind of enjoyed it. A bit. It just makes me read and read and read to know what would happen to Lia and Alice and what is the prophecy all about. You see, as I've said, I had a hard time understanding the prophecy. I thought differently than the author. Maybe that's a good thing to others but for me, well, it leaves me confused. So I still continue reading to know more about it.

Michelle Zink doesn't give all the explanation in one chapter. You need to read the next chapter and the next and the next and so on to fully comprehend it. But there are times where I guessed correctly. Like about Henry, Lia and Alice's younger brother.

Lia has the ability to astral project (is my term right?). That means she could separate from her physical body and travels to the astral plane. It is also known as Out-Of-Body Experience. We all know that having the ability to astral project means there's good stuff out of it but there are also bad stuff that might come to us should we wander too far. It's basically also about that.

If you also are looking for some romance, uh, Lia has someone named James. But he isn't always present. I mean, it's not focused on romance and personally I think they're not really the one for each other. Lia has some issues but she insist that she loves James and all. But I'm not that pacified. Oh, well.

And if there's a lesson in this book, that is: There is always a choice. We always have a choice to choose the good or the bad. It is really up to us to choose what we really want. Don't let any prophecy to dictate the things you want to do and love.

I'd recommend this for those who like mystery type of young adult novel. You might have a better view about it than me. If you do read it, let's compare notes! :) Happy reading!

I really enjoyed this book despite a slow start but I kept reading as I wanted to know what happens. I like the way it is set in the 19 Century rather than the present day as it makess it different. The ending was a cliff-hanger and it makes you want to read on so I need to read the second one. It has a lot of twists in the story as the twin sisters begin to go against each other. Recommended :)
