All I have to say is finally. I enjoyed the story until about page 500 even though I struggled in the beginning to determine the year. I decided to give up on understanding the date/societal references and just read. By page 500, I honestly didn’t care anymore. I almost gave up entirely but felt that I had invested too much time so I skipped a lot of pages to get to the end. I think this book could have been an excellent read for me because the story was one I could have enjoyed if a lot of the repeated details could have been removed. However, I also think these details may have been what a lot of people enjoyed.

I usually enjoy flawed and unlikeable characters but these ones just kinda sucked. So dense for no reason. Heavy drug use. Could have accomplished the same goal with 300pgs (it took me 7 months to finish). I absolutely did not enjoy this. The last 60-ish pgs where we start “reflecting” I actually enjoyed, although even that could have been chopped up to 5pgs max.
