This felt like a rom com crossed with a Disney Channel Original Movie in the best way. I felt as delighted by the whimsy and witchy plotline as I did watching Halloweentown as a kid. I had fun reading this from start to finish. I will say that the two leads felt (unnecessarily) super horny and that did make me roll my eyes a bit, but that's common for romance novels so I know it comes with the territory. Maybe other people actually experience that kind of ridiculous sexual tension, but I don't, so it always takes me out a bit. That's my only real critique though, and it's minor. If you want some cozy small town spooky Halloween vibes with lots of good people trying to be nice to each other, I recommend.

Listen, how many times do I need to say that witchy romances are just a good time?! This got me in the mood for fall for sure, and it was a fun mix of romance and magical problem-solving — very much a Hallmark movie about witches vibe.
I wanted more attention to be paid to Vivi (her personal and magical journey) and the town history aspects of the story, but overall this book has great characters and a fun plot.

I really enjoyed this book! It was the perfect cozy, autumnal contemporary romance with some superficial witchy vibes. There were lots of details I appreciated in world building, but I felt like it could have been deeper. I also feel like the ending wrapped up too easily and too quickly. But this was so fun, I read it in a day! A great book for the start of spooky season 🎃

A majority of the book I did like. The premise of curing an ex-boyfriend was funny. Vivi and Rhy figuring out how to life the curse was also a good time. Everything kind of wrapped up quicker than it should have. It’s like in ten pages, they suddenly figured out how to lift the curse and boom, that’s it. Cue the credits.

The book should have been a little longer with more detail. I will not be continuing the series, unfortunately.

Vivienne and her cousin sort of accidentally curse Vivi’s now ex-boyfriend when he drops a bomb on her- that his father is arranging a marriage for him. Nothing really happens for nine years but as soon as Rhys returns to that magical little town to charge the ley lines, bad things start to happen including multiple near death experiences, plastic skulls coming to life, and unleashing a ghost that really hates Rhys and his family. The pair must work together to cleanse the town of this curse while dealing with their lingering attraction to each other.

This was a really cute, quick read with good witchy vibes without getting super intense about rules of magic in this universe. The side characters are fun but a little flat. Rhys and Vivi make a cute pair but they do suffer from a bad case of Not Talking About Your Feelings Even Though It Would Fix A Lot Of Your Problems. Overall, the plot was pretty predictable and the end was wrapped up really quickly. It’s worth a read if you like slightly cozy witchy reads that don’t take themselves too seriously.

Vivi was 19 when Rhys winked into her world, made her fall in love with him, then betrayed her in the span of a few months. Drunk, heartbroken, and goaded by her cousin, she cursed him.
Now, 9 years later, Rhys is back in town, and the curse she thought was just a bit of catharsis from her early adulthood turned out to be more of a reality than she was prepared to handle.

I love a good second chance romance, and it's even easier to love when the characters and plot are as well written as they are in The Ex Hex. There's a sense of balance and ease in this book, flowing effortlessly between world building, romance, and shenanigans. This is definitely a book I plan to get a physical copy of, and I expect I'll reread it several times as the weather gets cooler. 🍂

A fast paced, magic and passion fueled book about relationships gone wonky. The Ex Hex is perfect for curling up on the sofa with a cup of tea to read a slice of life romance style novel with magical hijinks involved for good measure.
I really enjoyed the ease I found myself being able to read this book, it felt like flying through the pages while not making the book feel very short overall. I felt like I could relate to the book as not only is it set in our world but also has links to Wales, where I have lived for a short while previously.
On the other hand, I personally don't think the epilogue was necessary to make this story complete, without spoiling anything, I realise without this final chapter the tone of the ending would have been completly different if not totally opposite feeling. But it still would have been a complete book in my eyes.
I would recommend The Ex Hex for anyone looking for a lighthearted, amusing romance story. I feel this book makes a great change of pace for those who tend to read more fantasy and complex stories, in comparision this book feels like a breath of fresh air and a good change of pace.

 “Never mix vodka and witchcraft”

I found this book in a local bookstore, and it seemed like something that I would like. I have seen it around on social media, and seem like a lighthearted romance involving witches. Do I like romance? Yes. Do I like witches? Absolutely!

Look, this isn't a bad book, in any way. But there is something about second-chances books that I can't seem to like. I think that the only book of this kind that I absolutely love is Persuasion, by Austen. The characters are interesting and funny at times, the book has a good structure, and the story is interesting enough, but, to me, it was just "meh". However, I think that this is more of me problem than a book problem. Therefore, I'm giving it a 3.5 stars rating (but I'm being a bit generous). I can also say that this has fall vibes all over, so if you like romances with fall vibes, maybe give this one a chance.

Now, the question is: will I read The Kiss Curse? Yes, probably. It seems like an enemies-to-lovers romance and that's my favorite kind of romance.
