A majority of the book I did like. The premise of curing an ex-boyfriend was funny. Vivi and Rhy figuring out how to life the curse was also a good time. Everything kind of wrapped up quicker than it should have. It’s like in ten pages, they suddenly figured out how to lift the curse and boom, that’s it. Cue the credits.

The book should have been a little longer with more detail. I will not be continuing the series, unfortunately.

 “Never mix vodka and witchcraft”

I found this book in a local bookstore, and it seemed like something that I would like. I have seen it around on social media, and seem like a lighthearted romance involving witches. Do I like romance? Yes. Do I like witches? Absolutely!

Look, this isn't a bad book, in any way. But there is something about second-chances books that I can't seem to like. I think that the only book of this kind that I absolutely love is Persuasion, by Austen. The characters are interesting and funny at times, the book has a good structure, and the story is interesting enough, but, to me, it was just "meh". However, I think that this is more of me problem than a book problem. Therefore, I'm giving it a 3.5 stars rating (but I'm being a bit generous). I can also say that this has fall vibes all over, so if you like romances with fall vibes, maybe give this one a chance.

Now, the question is: will I read The Kiss Curse? Yes, probably. It seems like an enemies-to-lovers romance and that's my favorite kind of romance.

The Ex Hex was a decent, easy read. There were things I really enjoyed but also aspects I didn’t like as much. I enjoyed the enemies/exes to lovers romance between Vivienne and Rhys, the adventure they go on to get rid of the curse, and the sarcastic british humour by Rhys. I also loved the Welsh aspect to the novel, as I haven’t really seen that too much in other books I’ve read or heard of. One thing that confused me at the beginning was the setting - I couldn’t tell where the author wanted it to take place, Wales, or Georgia, USA.

This was such a quick, light, fun read. The vibe it gave off to me was a Halloween Hallmark movie, but not squeaky clean. There was some adult content and some witchy magic. It's definitely a romance or rom com type book with some magic thrown it.

If you love romance or rom com books or looking for something light, this will be right up your alley. What brought my rating down is that it was a bit superficial for me, which is how I feel about most rom come style books anyway. I don't hate or dislike them by any means. They're just not normally my cup of tea.

Just about everyone is saying this is a bit Practical Magic, a bit Gilmore Girls, and a lot of cozy romantic fun. Yes to all of this. I went in with high hopes and it pretty much read itself.

Loved the fall vibes, the generous sprinkling of magic throughout, the sense of humour, the banter between the MCs, the secondary characters.

My only complaint is that the initial central plot point felt like it took the back seat to the relationship once that started rolling along. I’d have liked a better balance. Perhaps the book needed to be a bit longer? The ending felt rushed.

Good October-y romantic fun. I’d happily read it again!

THE YEARNING UGHHH. This book was so so so good??? Erin Sterling (alternatively Rachel Hawkins) has written some FAB books and this one seems to fit her aesthetic the most. I've primarily read her YA romances and idk something about this book just made it seem like the author was much more at home with the age, characters, and world building.

I loved the second chance romance. The initial breakup wasn't too unreasonable or insignificant to the rekindling of the romance. I loved how drawn out the mutual pining was even WHILE they were hooking up.

I thoroughly loved the small town witch lore that was cultivated. I kept thinking of The Raven Boys books but like adult and *better*. I also really really loved the delicate balance between character driven and conflict driven. It kept the pacing of the book nice and brusque. There was no place for me to get bored which explains why I finished this in a day.

So so so good and I can't wait for what looks to be a sapphic companion heheheheh
