I'm sorry why are we rooting for the MMC?! He's a fucking dick, excuse me. I get that he has this soft side at the hollow and clams up afterwards when he thinks her feelings may not have been real or whatever issues she has but everything that happens at LaLas engagement party, what a joke. He's a fucking ass hat dude. And she is such a pushover. It's really hard to root for these two.
Also I'm here for the mysteries being solved. Why am I 80% through book two out of a trilogy and NONE of the que tions from book one have been answered, I only have more questions. Theres no satisfaction in these books to keep you going. I'm starting to wonder why the FMC doesn't think about suicide if she's so worried about what horrors are on the other side of the arch and no longer really loves or cares for her. That would be more realistic but I get we're not in that age group so fair.
Also
WHY WOULD NO ONE TELL HER THE VALORS WERE IN THE ARCH?! Like she would've agreed to open it if she knew more about them and who they were. That frustrates me so much, if they answered her questions from the beginning, they'd have someone on their side. What the fuck? It doesn't make any sense.

The saving grace for me here is the hollow scenes and the ending. I'm intrigued enough to go on.
The memory loss is really the thing I'm curious about.
Im surprised I made it this far but clearly there's something here.

oh my god this book was so good. the last 50 pages really bumped this book from 4 stars to 5, with the ending leaving me with all sorts of feelings. i loved how so many things ended up being connected and everything with the story just fell into place so nicely. i knew i loved Jacks when i read Caraval and OUABH, but this book really cemented my love for him. Evangeline was also an amazing FMC, being kindhearted and trusting while also being strong and intelligent. the whole world of these books is just so magical and enchanting, i can’t wait to start the 3rd book!
