(3.75) pretty good book, would recommend.

One thing I liked in specific about this book is that they actually talked when they needed to sort things out rather than just fuck when they need to talk. More writers need to make their characters have effective communication, not just sex.

What I didn't like about this book: (although all of it was just a little annoying, not at all any major flaw or complaint)
I wasn't the biggest fan of the writing style (like, the narrator just told us something rather than describing it, for eg. "I felt nervous." rather than "I felt fidgety and couldn't stop thinking about it again and again") but it's not bad to the point that it bothered me. The only part that I was like - no no no that just isn't working hun, was when the author tried to make Caine a bad boy but still a good person.... Like
like the time when he just said he doesn't do picnics, he likes to fuck like animals... No just no. His character IS the kind of person who would do a cute little picnic. Don't make your protagonist get out of character just to make him look like a bad boy. She wanted to make him look like a "bad boy" but it just didn't fit his otherwise somewhat cute and soft character... And also please don't even mention the time she tried to go all 50 shades of grey and he blindfolded her and everything... And then the writer still had to make him not a bad person so she just made it up that he has never done it before yet he was an expert at it... Like huh? What she tried to do was make it sexy in a 50 shades of grey way but still make him a good person but what it ended up being is just something way out of character for him. Also, um, who climaxes 3-4 every time they get laid?? Pretty unrealistic if you ask me.

Also, authors need to stop making me imagine the character as a person on the cover of the book... Just leave it to my imagination, please stop putting shirtless guys on book covers it simply doesn't look very elegant or sexy either tbh.

My favourite text from the book:

“You have some sauce…” Caine pointed. Still holding the gyro, I turned my wrist to look. The sauce had trailed down my hand, past my wrist, and was making its way steadily down my arm, about to drip onto my shirt. If I put down the disaster of a gyro, there was no way I’d be able to pick it back up without it falling apart. So, I licked a line from my arm up over my wrist to my finger, cleaning the mess in one long stroke. Not very ladylike, but it was better than wearing it on my nice shirt. When I looked up, Caine was staring at me. “Christ. Are you trying to get me fired?” “What?”

This was a fun read, especially for getting out of a reading slump. It was really angsty, and the characters worked really well together. Really good if you like enemies to lovers, teacher/student (but not gross), and steamy ready. Definitely not as steamy as some others I've read by this author, but it is def there.
