DNA at 60%. I felt zero connection to either character, became bored with the storyline, and couldn't relate to Maubry's self destructive behavior. I may have possibly understood her needs more had I continued reading but at 60% in I felt I should have been FEELING something. This one wasn't for me.

I cant stop comparing the first book and this.
Is this the same author? The whole book was about one thing. NOthing heartbreaking, nothing suprising happened. Sometimes i was bored, i wasnt exited. not even once during the reading.

Ho apprezzato i diversi punti di vista all'interno della storia i quali sono mancati nel primo romanzo (qui la recensione), perchè ti permettono di capire cosa provano entrambe le parti. Avere solo un punto di vista ti fa vedere la storia solo a senso unico senza darti modo di creare le tue idee perchè conosci solo un lato della storia. Un'altra bella idea è stata quella di intervallare i momenti del passato con quelli del presente che alla fine si fondono insieme. L'ho visto come una metafora, come due persone hanno vissuto la loro vita, distanti ma unite che alla fine si "uniscono" per sempre. Inoltre, intervallare due spazi temporali permette al lettore di capire certi comportamenti che si svolgono nel presente, dando modo di metabolizzare il passato senza caricarlo di troppe informazioni tutte in una volta. I personaggi non mi hanno entusiasmato tantissimo. Brad tra i due si può dire il mio preferito, anche se alla fine del libro mi sono chiesta: "ma chi è questo Brad?", perchè alla fine di lui non scopriamo molto. Sappiamo che si comportava male nei confronti delle ragazze e "grazie" ad un incidente rinsavisce. Sappiamo solo questo, l'autrice non entra mai nel dettaglio del percorso che ha affrontato il nostro belloccio per diventare la persona che è. Inoltre, l'ho trovato completamente diverso dal personaggio che andiamo ad incontrare nel primo volume, perchè se l'autrice l'avesse continuato a tenere sul quel livello sarebbe stato anche interessante sviluppare e leggere una storia su di lui, invece me l'ha banalizzato subito facendolo diventare subito pazzo d'amore per questa misteriosa ragazza. Lui continua a ripetere che lei fa parte del suo destino, che è bellissima ma alla fine non la conosce veramente. L'autrice in questo modo mi fa cogliere che Brad sia innamorato solo della facciata esterna di Mabry. Ora parliamo della protagonista femminile. All'inizio del libro sembrava una tosta, una con le palle (passatemi il termine) ma andando avanti con la storia mi si è afflosciata. Pensavo di leggere di nuovo di Amanda. Non sono riuscita completamente ad immedesimarmi, perchè la nostra ragazza soffre di autolesionismo. Un problema, purtroppo, molto presente oggi ma l'ho sentito molto distante, perchè non mi appartiene. Penso che l'autrice abbia scelto questo tipo di tema per criticare un po' la società di oggi che è lei la causa di tanto dolore. Essendo un tema molto delicato, è stato ben sviluppato a mio parere ma non l'ho trovato così vicino da potermi immedesimare. C'è una cosa che non ho capito di Mabry, come di Amanda. Perchè avete paura dei sentimenti? Amanda perchè non voleva perdere il suo migliore amico e Mabry perchè non aveva controllo sul suo passato e in questo modo allontana Brad quando ne aveva più bisogno. Per me sono tutte giustificazioni che non hanno fondamenta, capisco che non è sempre facile aprire il proprio cuore e il proprio passato verso un'altra persona, ma quando questa ti ha dimostrato più volte il suo amore nei tuoi confronti devi dargli un po' di fiducia, no? Alla fine il libro si legge molto velocemente, è una lettura che ti tiene compagnia per qualche ora (soprattutto se non riesci ad addormentarti!) e ti fa sognare un principe che ti ami così tanto come Brad sembra amare Mabry.

I wasn't sure I really even wanted to read your story but I'm a sucker for a good redemption tale. I wish that I could tell you that I fell in love with you after reading your story but I didn't, but I also don't hate you the way I did in book one.
I am glad that you found your number one girl and that you seemed to fight so hard for her as soon as you recognized that she was it for you and I'm sorry that you had to go through what you went through in order to set yourself on the right track to be the guy that's worth love.
I would love to tell you how great I think that Mabry is but I'm not really a fan of hers either. I hold no ill will towards her but I just didn't feel anything special for her. I was pulling for you both because I think that everyone deserves their HEA but I can't say I felt any sort of NEED to see the two of you together.
I enjoyed the telling of your story but I never really connected with the two of you. I'm sure that a lot of people will find your story endearing and will fall in love with you both. I'm just not one of them.

characters: Brad and Mabry, young lawyers in the same firm. Brad is a converted player and has fallen in love with Mabry. She has deep rooted issues with depression and suicide.
Writing: Alternating POV's, flashing from present to past. It helped build up the personalities of the characters and the plot.
Overall: I give this a 4.5 out of 5 stars. There were some serious issues, that were dealt with in a realistic manner. Brad didn't waiver in his devotion to Mabry, which was nice to see in a character. I loved the epilogue and how things were wrapped up for the ending.

Wow. So I had a hard time figuring out how I was going to be able to like Brad after reading Present Perfect. Part of me felt his transformation was a tad unbelievable, but what he went through was life changing and after reading everything it made sense that he changed and wanted to cling on to Mabry when he found her. And Mabry. Wow. Her issue was something I hadn't read about before and my heart broke for her. Overall I really enjoyed this book. It was nice seeing Tweet and Noah (even if only for a too short time) and that epilogue was pretty much perfect. I wish all authors would write an epilogue that detailed and enjoyable.

It was okay.
I am glad that we got closure on this guy and also got an idea as to why he did what he did and all that good stuff. I wanted to not like him but it was hard to do that.
