The struggle to get through this book was REAL.
While I liked the concept of the bracelet and taking "body rides" as they're called in this book, much of everything else that makes up the book was either annoying or frustrating. For example, I hated pretty much all of these characters. They made incredibly stupid decisions, and their conversations were so circuitous sometimes that it made me skip whole sections of dialogue until they finally got to the point or the decision was made.
Also, there were plot points that occurred that had absolutely no bearing on the overall story. I feel as though they were there to add shock value, more so than to show how the bracelet works or add any crucial information to the overall conflict of the story. In a book that's over 500 pages long, scenes and characters that don't advance the plot are nothing but a waste of my time.
I basically spent much of this book frustrated and reading ahead to see if anything interesting was coming up. But I did manage to force myself to finish it all the way through to the extremely convenient ending, so I guess that's something.

I give it 2.5 stars. The premise was intriguing, the storyline was good except that it kept going off on tangents that sounded like something from a letter you might find in an old copy of Penthouse Forum or Variations. You know, those cheesy sexcapades that all sound like complete bulls**t, because they probably are? If this book hadn't relied on those parts quite so much, it would have been SO much better.
Richard Laymon was so incredibly descriptive of his characters and their Body Rides, that I felt as if I were in the body ride myself! You can become easily absorbed into the story!
