Definitely not a literary masterpiece but no one reads reincarnation/royal house stories to be wowed by the literary genius. Writing is what you would expect of a teen/YA novel.
The story is largely plot driven and easy to follow- no surprising twists. The romance is believable and so is the trauma. Overall an easy, entertaining read as long as you don't expect complex plots, morally ambiguous enemies, gripping literary style.
Side point/criticism: really dislike the names. Anyone who wasn't very important to the story had single character names and were easily forgettable, and at some point the characters were literally named Liu Bang and Xiangyu and Liu Zhi, which seemed unnecessary because the actual character in the story were not parallels of the Chinese historical figures. Names have meaning in many Asian cultures, especially in Chinese culture. If this is supposed to be inspired by Chinese culture then put a little more work into the names?
