I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy. I was so excited to finally win a copy!
I had a hard time stepping away from this book: stupid pesky work getting in the way of my reading.
This book did remind me of a recent read (Queenie - not that the protagonists are that similar, though, but I was rooting for them so much) and not-so-recent read (Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine), but Maddie's voice is very much her own. She is such a lovable and likeable character! And I could relate to her, too, which doesn't happen very often. I felt protective of her when she's vulnerable; confused when she is confused; irate when she is irate; sad when she is sad. An emotional read and so heartfelt. I haven't been this engrossed in a book (to the point where I have to finish it so I can focus on other mundane tasks) in some time.

I liked the premise and the characters, but the dialogue felt forced and simplistic. I wanted to like this more. Definite readalike for Candice Carty-Williams, but not as fun.
