The first book of the “Crowns of Nyaxia” series and it was a CRAWL. Stocked full of world building and learning of their gods and cities. Oraya, a human, is taken as a child to live with the Vampire king, Vincent.
The main story line of the book is Oraya competing in a competition to honor Nyaxia, the night goddess and ruler of vampires. Only, she is the only human amongst Shadowborn, Nightborn, and Bloodborn vampires…with wings. Sprinkled amongst this is bits of Oraya’s backstory.
And then we meet Raihn and the winged man kink is satiated. Snarky, dark humored, and…a Turned vampire. This means he was once human but was changed. This means he has held on to his human heart.
If you are a fan of the slowest of burns and enemies to lovers (spoiler…to enemies again) you will be hooked.
I heard so many good reviews to I kept pushing and also…i love me a book with a competition.

This had me reading under the covers into the early hours of the morning like a kid again. I was highly invested in Oraya's story. The dark and mysterious vampire world, the deadly tournament and the slow burn romance was to die for. I'm thrilled I gave this one a chance and cannot wait to read the next one.

“This was the stare of a creature who understood she was confronting death itself, and still chose to spit in its face.“
Badass FL! This story felt unique and captivating. I love the description of the world and the role all the characters have to play in the movement of it. I felt captivated from the very beginning. I loved how each character developed as the book progressed. The pacing was great! It gave enough time for things to unfold exactly how they should. It didn’t feel rushed to me. THIS IS QUALITY STUFF!
THAT TWIST ALMOST BROKE MY SPINE! I had vertigo the last 100 pages 🫨! I finished and stared at the wall for at least 10 minutes. The only thing I took points off for was the fact that I wanted to hear more about the build up behind the scenes with Vincent. I felt like that would have been the cherry on top! It would have set the stage for…. Anyways I loved it and I’m running to the next book 🏃🏾♀️💨.
