Enjoyed this a lot, found the first chapter or two a bit slow, but once I was past this it really picked up and kept my interest the whole way through. Enjoyed the trials element of the book, didn’t feel like a copy and paste of the hunger games format which was great. The characters are interesting and I enjoyed watching their relationships develop. Felt that the FMC was consistent throughout, you saw her slowly develop as it went on. Enjoyed the twist at the end!

Drop everything and read this book right now. I’m telling you it’s worth it.

The story had me HOOKED from the first page, I never found myself bored or confused. The writing was perfect for me, it is one of the best writing styles I’ve read and that’s saying A LOT. Carissa you will forever be an auto buy author for me now!

The last time I read a vampire book it was kind of lame, and it rhymes with smileight, I feel like these vamps are portrayed perfectly, no sparkles here

the plot of having trials to survive through with only one winner gave powerless vibes. i enjoyed the world building even though i’m not usually into vampire books. i would say about 2/3 through was when i got really engaged with the story and characters and had no sense of time outside of its pages. the ending is so unexpected yet built up well, definitely the best part even though it shatters you a bit. excited for the next book and to see if it truly does compare with sarah j maas :)
