One of my favorite books, how it talks about the politics, the way it makes you think about how you take your desicions and who are you and your freedom is marvelous, when i finished the book i just keep thinking about it, really good book

1984 is a real fine wine, bringing into question if man will be able to navigate his own path throughout history. It encapsulates something powerful about the shift in outlook that took place post-WWII, giving you a salient glimpse of the human race's collective outlook as we tumbled into the second half of the 20th.

It's just damn impressive that Orwell was able to envision society taking on the characteristics he portrays, and the grace in which he calls out the Western world's hypocrisy via 'doublethink' is plain refreshing. Like Goldstein's text, he just shows us things that are already there. With how much the phrase "literally 1984" gets tossed around, I'm glad I revisited this in the midst of the time we're in. When something has been banned this much, you just know it delivers.

Reread this book for the first time since I was a teenager and found it even more powerful and unsettling. Feels like it could have been written now and just as menacing and psychologically torturous as I remember.
